Sammy is just a little mouse who is happy living in his box with his shavings and eating peanuts.  It's when his human's older brother decides he should be a test pilot for a model airplane that everything changes...

Peachtree Publishers and Edelweiss gave me the opportunity to read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published April 1st.

When the two brothers fight about Sammy going up in the plane, the older brother steps on his control mechanism and destroys it.  Sammy goes up and away.  They figure they have lost both the plane and Sammy...

Mr. Cole makes Sammy a very cute character.  He learns to fly by accident, gets caught in trees on the way back and ends up being taken prisoner by a group of mice.  Leaving his wounded plane behind, he meets the tribe of mice who are relieved to hear he's not part of the dreaded enemies camp.

When the enemy shows up in person and demands to know what the noise was, Sammy realizes he needs to leave and take his plane back home.  He asks who can help him repair it.  He learns who could but his plane is gone when he gets back to it!

There's a search for the plane, a path he must walk alone and he may not even get there alive.  But he goes without anyone else because it's his responsibility.  The friends he makes along the way made me smile.  It's a diverse group of animals and each has their own odd personality.

This was a pleasant read that made me smile.  There may even be a sequel which would all be good fun, too.
