David Spilman Fine Books is an online bookseller specializing in fine books, maps, publications and ephemera related to exploration, adventure and world history, with an emphasis on the Polar Regions, History and the American west. David’s particular interest is in the Heroic Age of Antarctic exploration from 1895 to 1920’s. Other areas of interest are in the Arctic exploration, American western expansion, California and Klondike Gold Rush eras, Cook Expeditions, California, the Pacific Northwest, Alaska and a little bit of this and that.
David is a member of the Antiquarian Bookseller's Association of America (ABAA) and of the Independent Online Booksellers Association (IOBA) currently serving as IOBA Treasurer. He strongly supports the professional development and code of ethics ABAA and IOBA. He is also a member of the Ephemera Society of America, the California and Washington Map Societies and the Western History Association.
David has attended the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar and courses in Rare Book Schools at the University of Virginia and University of California to develop his continuing bookish education. David and his wife have a small farm and enjoy raising registered Shetland sheep for their high-quality wool.

Bound accordion fold within abstract color-designed paper over boards, multicolor silk ties hold all together. Printed letterpress with various colors, pop-ups, and a volvelle, images carved from linoleum, some printed with rainbow rolls, four-color images printed on and HP Indigo digital printer, more color with airbrush and pochoir, many of the illustrations include attached buttons, brads, fabric, fringe, ribbon and thread.
