A rare Bulgarian edition of Lewis Carroll's perennial classic which follow Alice down the rabbit hole and her encounters with characters such as the White Rabbit, the Cheshire-Cat, the King and Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter, Tweedledum and Tweedledee among others. This edition superbly illustrated with eight colour plates and further black and white drawings within the text by Peter Chuklev, the Bulgarian illustrator and professor of printmaking.
The text of this 1965 edition was examined by the Russian authorities who believed it to be a story of Bulgarian origin and so ordered a Russian translation published in 1967, not knowing it was English.
