Barrow Bookstore was founded in Concord, Massachusetts in 1971 and began in an old-fashioned wheelbarrow before quickly transitioning to a store front. Our signature wheelbarrow remains parked out front on Main Street at the top of the alley that leads you to Barrow Bookstore. Come down the alley (behind Fritz and Gigi clothing shop) and you'll find a magical place as you step into Barrow Bookshop! Visitors are invited to browse our ever-changing stock, enjoy a quiet read in our comfortable chairs, and join us for events.
Whether it is a paperback or a first edition book, at the end of the day, the Barrow Bookstore’s most valuable stories are those of our reader friends; as Emerson said, ‘’tis the good reader that makes the good book.”
