More about this bookseller

You're sure to find the magic of books just a few steps down a staircase from a bustling street in a quaint downtown in Georgia, where a hundred-year-old basement holds an archway made of books, a fireplace stuffed with letters from a school for sorcery, and bookshelves full of stories ready to enchant you. Underground Books is a charmingly eccentric used, new, rare and antiquarian bookshop actually located underground, several steps below street level in historic downtown Carrollton, Georgia. Sister store Hills & Hamlets Bookshop is located in the nearby planned community of Serenbe, with a selection that emphasizes nature and the arts.

Josh and Megan met just 10 days after Josh opened the shop in March of 2011, when Megan walked in, and the rest is history! They were married in May of 2014, and now operate their book business together. Josh graduated from Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and a minor in religion. Megan earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature with a minor in creative writing from the University of West Georgia in 2013. Both Megan and Josh have attended the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar, Josh in 2011 on a scholarship from AbeBooks and Megan in 2014 on a scholarship from the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association of America (ABAA). Megan has also attended Rare Book School at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
