We have fascinating articles on determining the worth of particular books from Vic Zoschak, on the psychology behind acquiring whatever it is you collect (including books) by Maria Bustillos, and on professionalism – which pertains to everyone in any business, as well as those of us in the book trade, by Julie Fauble. In addition, Jean McKenna is now supplying us with a Q&A section on issues pertaining to our businesses and book matters–feel free to contact Jean with questions for the next Standard.
We also have wonderful interviews this issue: Pat Ahearn talks to author John Dunning, who got so many of us interested in the book business; our own Jill Morgan talks about how and why she got into the republishing of children’s books; and two children’s authors, Len Kessler and Dorothy Mills, whose books Jill has republished, tell us about their lives, the books they’ve written, and how Jill is affecting their careers.
And finally, we have a report from our President, Jim Hart.
I hope you all find this issue interesting and fun and, remember that it could be this way each month, every other month, or quarterly. All we need is writers to volunteer. I’m interesting in getting writers both on technical/business issues (computers and books), and also on interviewing people related to our trade, whether authors, publishers, database people—you name it, and we’ll find a place for them.
Bless you Deanna Ramsay, for putting this issue on the site for me!
