First printing of John Knowles' classic first novel, a coming of age story. Very good (toning to the grey cloth, mild foxing to the top edge, and three minor bumps to the top edge of the front board). The second issue jacket has mild toning and soiling; the front flap is clipped but retains the $3.50 price. Signed by Knowles on the front free endpaper after lining out "Jack Knowles." Fairly uncommon signed. A solid very good or better copy.
