Dr. Hans Heinrich Joseph Meyer (1858-1929), German geographer, explorer and mountaineer, who achieved the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro (Mawenzi, Shira, and Kibo summits) in east Africa after several attempts. His team also spent time exploring and mapping the mountain summit, the north and west sides of the Schira plateau, and collecting information about the surrounding area.
