Based in beautiful, downtown Spray, Oregon, selling out of my own home, but fresh after a long stint in Ohio as Blue Jacket Books and a short stint in Sacramento, California living in while buying out and selling down Richard Press Fine Art Books. I specialize in the social sciences and humanities, in the fine arts and in kindred, mildly related genres, law and human rights to Africana, gender and sexuality to European history. Modern First Editions, in erotica, Judaica, Ireland, Americana, Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece, and Africana. I also do premium book searches, advise as regards libraries and their sell-down, and operate a premium book-of-the-month club called Once Upon a Tome. In 2020 I returned to the Oregon of my youth (if not birth) and am making a stand near the river John Day in Spray, Oregon. My undergraduate and graduate school trainings took me to New York for graduate school and then overseas to Papua New Guinea and to Fiji, where I conducted ethnographic fieldwork on sexual networking and sexual violence, HIV and AIDS, for many years, both as a solo ethnographer and as a consulting qualitative research methods expert. I've been selling books since 2009, first as Log Cabin Books (in Yellow Springs, Ohio), then for a decade as Blue Jacket Books (in Xenia, Ohio), and now and for the duration as Structure, Verses, Agency Books (in Spray, Oregon). As to my business name, only 13 people have "gotten" it on the first try (they all being social scientists themselves). The first phrase characterizes huge debates in the social sciences: does “Structure” (kinship rules and class relations, economics and politics) determine History, or is "Structure" the net result of, the sum total of the “Agency” of fully conscious, independently acting individuals?
Terms of Sale
I've done my best to state clearly and truthfully the condition of each and every book I have listed on-line. Sometimes, however, books change condition insofar as they sit on the shelf for a long time, get moved by customers, get taken to and from book fairs, and so on. If for some reason you don't like your purchase or it arrives somehow damaged, or if it doesn't get to you at all, you might be eligible for a refund within 30 days of the estimated delivery date.
